OK you jerks . Why didn't someone notify me that Ehran and Skaven are back online even if it isn't in Asheron's Call. <stomps foot>. I just started getting the itch to look back into AC (been gone for a year I think) and thought I'd try to see if you guys were still posting anywhere, and here you are. I noticed there is an AC free trial coming up, but I could be tempted to play WoW if I know some people playing. I just might have to make a few budget adjustments. Give me all the gory details, I've not played WoW yet.

Well, there are a few of us who still play around on WoW (you'll remember me as Nemo from AC). Most of the old LoA crowd is spread out around multiple servers and such, but myself, Skaven, Ehran, Sandy, and Cit (from time to time) are over on the Cenarion Circle server.
As for "gory details"...well right now a lot of us are in a bit of a game lul as we are at maximum level and trying to figure out where to go from here. Once the expansion comes olut in January I think things will get more interesting again.

Hey there omae! I've been sorta hiatusing from WoW due to increased workloads and such, btu I'm working on getting myself back into it - I am also waiting eagerly to see the AC trial myself, we'll have to make sure we find eachother...Morningthaw sound good to you? WoW is a very nice game. Each of the classes feels different from eachother, and play differently, and you have several ways to play each different class - though as in AC there is a generally accepted 'most uber' for each class ( though there are many pleasing arguments about what the most uber would be for some ). It is a pretty game: Cartoony and elegant. Murlocs are the mites of the world, though more common and more irritating. -laughs- I will say that the end-game is lacking, and the highest end dungeons often require 20-40 people and an immense time investment, though things are slated to improve in the expansion. Depending on your class, the road to 60 can be long or short, solo or grouped. At 60...it is currently an item grind and a somewhat annoying one. Item variation isn't the same as AC - items are all relatively static, and progress linearly in power. You'll never find an item that looks any different from the same that anyone else has - so you do not have the fun - or frustration - of trying to build the perfect effective/looking armor set. Anyhoo, I guess that's enough babbling for now - I hope to hear back from you soon, let us know how you are doing! -Ehran

Ehran's assessments is a little biased as he dislikes all instancing which is mostly what you do at 60. The item grind can be bad, but if you can get a group of people you like together then the running of instances is just about having fun and not just about finding loot. The immense time investment usually means about 3 hours give or take on a given evening planned in advance.
It is very true about the classes that even though the 9 classes are different from each other each of them has at least 2 different ways to play them, and more for some classes (druids for example I can immediately think of 4 distinct ways). It is a nice change from AC's 6 different classes that were basically the same (Melee w/ Magic, Melee w/ Arcane Lore, Bow/X-bow/Thrown w/ magic, you get the point). I do miss some of the variability of loot though as Ehran mentioned, but it's not too bad, you do have quite a bit of diversity in appearance in armor and gear between level 60's...very very rarely have I seen two 60's who were wearing the exact same gear even enough to look alike, or as alike as two people in different colored Amuli.
But feel free to give it a try (I also forgot to mention that we are on the Alliance side on Cenarian Circle). You can get a free trial online too just to try it out and I believe if you like it you can continue without loosing the character you started in that trial.

EEEEEEE!!!
*tackles Ehran*
Xandrian returns!! If ever so briefly...
I don't play WoW anymore, having been seduced by the siren call of the Elder Scrolls IV.
Gaidus called me the other night though, and reminded me that I do have things known in WoW lore as "friends." Thus, I felt the need to show up.
Greetings to all! How are things going?
Xandrian

If I can find the time, I'm planning on firing up the AC trial some time late this week to see how it has changed since I quit playing. When I do, I'll post here what my characters are and if anyone is interesting in looking me up in AC that would be great. I didn't realize I could get a WoW trial too so I will be checking that out as well. I'm a little concerned about getting sucked back into online games since I've only recently gotten over the withdrawal symptoms from AC, but I need an excuse to stop thinking about all the work I have to do all the time.

There is no fun in having nothing to do, the real fun is having lots to do and not doing it.
