I have an interesting situation with Grad School. On the one hand I have a professor who is interested in me but funding is uncertain. Other the other hand I have confirmed funding from Los Alamos but so far no professor that would take on the project. I just got confirmation of the funding today so I sent out some emails, so we will have to wait and see.
Anyway, I just wanted to give everyone an update on my situation. I will be back home in Michigan this weekend with some time then to relax and play some AC, but probably not until then.

Wow that is a sticky situation......
But I will say this as someone who has been a confidant of many grad students. Find a prof that you can work well with. Funding is nice, a good school is a bonus..... but the advisor is like God in your life. Make sure you get along well with him/her and can communicate well or think similarly. It will make all the difference in how much you enjoy life over the next 4+ years and truthfully can be the difference in IF you finish.

Thanks for the advise Randa, the problem is that the guy I want to work with is the one that has uncertain funding...  Anyway, I am packing up and will be leaving tonight and tomorrow and will not be back to Michigan until late Sunday night. So I won't be on at all between now and early next week, not even the forums. Talk to you all again in a few days  |
