Threya mentioned that we have an allience with the guild 'Bound by Blood' (excuse me for possibly butchering the guild name). Earlier today I was reading in the Cenarion Circle forums about a group of individuals who wish to form a meta guild (basically a collection of small to medium sized guilds that operate as individual guilds but band together for instances, resources, skills, etc...). I think something like this (not necessarily this alliance itself) would be great for us to consider.... check it out! www.ccguilds.com forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-realm-cenarioncircle&t=100574&p=1&tmp=1#post100574

That looks pretty intriguing, I have to say - I guess it would all depend on the execution of the interactions. If somebody wants to follow up on this in-game, that might be a good step, or else contacting the site admins and getting more details.

I will attempt to contact some of the various people involved here. I have already made contact with another group working on something like this and will see how they plan to execute things. I will post here when I have learned more.

Before I really go any further with commiting to anything or the like, I would like to know what others in the guild really do think about an alliance with another guild (a formal one, not like the informal one we have with Bound By Blood which so far has basically amount to nothing more than that "I" have made friends with another guild ) Since this is one of the biggest decisions we can make as a guild (besides actually merging with another, something I don't see happening with this group any time soon) I want everyone's feed back. So, for those who do read the forums, please do give your opinion, and try to talk to those you see in game who do not generally post here. I will not commit this guild to anything unless I am certain everyone else is on board.

What does aligning with another guild entail? Will we see what they are saying in our "guild chat"? It would be cool to have more options for getting groups together, I think. Are they a guild similar to ours? I have always felt pretty comfortable with our amount of "laid-backness", it isn't threatening nor american onlineish (over use of the suffix ish, by Beteldriel) But you know what I mean, I never liked all that "owned" type stuff. Though if others do that is great, to each his own (haha no pun intended). Oh well I am up for whatever, is what I guess I am trying to say, though I don't really nderstand what all this means.

Basically a formal alliance system like this would involved the common use of a seperate chat channel (like when we were using the "LoA" channel), a website to allow inter-guild organization, and a commonly accepted set of rules of conduct for conversation, looting, etc in inter-guild events (such as instances and raids).

I see this making the most difference in the endgame raid dungeons. A smaller guild, such as ourselves, that have all levels and classes, is not the type that will be able to do these instances on our own. We can either look into making alliances with other guilds for these, or find ourselves in nothing but pick-up groups out of IF. As we get more of our members to level 60, we'll find more of our members wanting to do these, and if we can get communication going with other groups now, it'll only make things easier in the long run.

While joining one of these alliances would indeed help those who are highly interested in the raid part of the game, it may also demand too much from those who wish not to raid. We have been invited into an alliance (see ehran.proboards21.com/index.cgi?board=WoWGeneral&action=display&thread=1119996822), and some of their things include having people perform in hunts and so forth. I myself am a very laid back type of person when it comes to things like this. Everyone can see that there are times when I am on for hours, or just for 20 minutes (more often the latter). So if we were to join an alliance I would much rather have it be a laid back type of one. While having RP in the chat channel is great, I do not believe it is a good way of getting to know people. Even though there is a forum, that doesn't mean everyone will use it. That and I believe this guild wouldn't be so comfortable with one another if we only did ooc talk in the forums. In the end, I have no problem joining one, it opens up a few things. But the biggest thing is I'd want to see people have the option of being able to do the normal chit chat in the alliance channel and not to have a lot of "requirements". But maybe I'm just crazy too.
