Did I spell the name right? oh well, either way, this movie comes out tommorrow, today, a week ago, pending on when you look at this thing, and by thing, I mean webpage, which is on your monitor, go figure.
Either way, this stars that Keanu or however you spell his name, you know the guy. Black hair, went through time in a phonebooth? No? pfft, loser.
Either way, so it's a movie about a guy who goes to hell, but is somehow the main decider in the battle of heaven or hell, over the earth, something? either way, the previews never made anything clear, except for one thing.
It has guns.
And of course, guns means explosions. Which are two good factors in guy movie requirements. or at least mine.
I am going to go see this movie on monday I do believe. Which should be plenty of time, because I doubt anyone will even check this board before then. So I'll toss up a small review.
Oh, by the way. I do a lot of reviews pending on my mood or requests. so if anyone wants a review on anything, I'll do my best to do it.

I can't wait to hear the review. Constantine was the main character in DC's Hellblazer comic when it came out many years ago and I loved it. I'm not sure on the choice of having Keanu playing him, since he's British in the comics, but we'll see how it turns out.

sorry about not getting the review up last night. due to many complications and a friends car accident, I was unable to see it till the late show (yes, I picked up my friend and we went. lol) and when we got back I was counting down how long it would be till I had to be in class. and I was at 5 hours. so I went to bed rather than write a review. cause I usually tend to blab too much during a review.
and fyi, I have zero history with the comic, so while I'll be able to answer questions on if this or that was in it, but I won't be able to go "yeah, he didn't have this or that but did get this or that." get it? good.
so tonight between my tests I'll pop up a review of a movie I am going to go see again this saturday. (thats a hint to let you all know I liked it)

Alright, so to begin I'll touch on the cast.
Of course there is Keanu Reeves as the main man Constantine. Who talks bad, smokes a lot, and tends to get his drink on as well. The other two big players are Tilda Swinton, who is playing Gabriel. We all know who Gabriel is, and it's Tilda. If the name doesn't ring a bell (and it didn't for me till I saw a face. She is the blonde elf in lord of the rings, you know the one. She has one of the 3 rings). The other is Gavin Rossdale, the former lead singer of Bush, as Balthazar.
With the three that I believe to be the main's in the movie, you also have Djimon Hounsou as Papa Midnight, and some Shia Loubouf or something as the trusty sidekick. The sidekick is "oddly" the comic relief in this movie.
Lets start the movie, it begins in Mexico (what doesn't?) and the Spear of Destiny is found, thats right, the spear of destiny. Come on, you've seen hellboy right? pierced the side of christ, all that stuff. Well this little artifact seems to turn the poor mexican into a mission driven puppet, and here the say he who holds the spear holds destiny. Seemed to me the guy was out of his flippin' skull. it doesn't take long, but you'll see some of the perks this mexican gets (which he uses to cross the border. but hey, if normal people can do it, why not someone who holds such a thing in his grasp eh?) and just to let you all know, there is no handle to the spear. Sadly, it's jsut the tip, so no pulling the spear out of a hole and spinning it like a helicopter in order to save your rear sort of stuff.
but moving along.
This is where you get to meet constantine, and this is where you are suppose to cheer and be happy. So he does his thing with demon removal and what not. But the demon he encounters is apparently a soldier type demon, which was attempting to get into the real world, which you find out is not suppose to happen in the slightest. Go figure, demons not suppose to be on earth?
You find out that Hell and Heaven had made a pact to have no direct influence over people. So they have what Constantine refers to as half-breeds on earth, to manipulate man into doing things, but never doing anything of force or with powers. They are the puppets that pull on other puppet strings. And if one of them breaks the rules and interferes forcibly, it's Constantine who gets to deport them to hell for doing so. And he seems to become more persistant that there must be a way to bend the rules, seeing as what he's done (but he may be pushing just because he doesn't have especially long to live due to lung cancer. But smoking like a "cool guy" will do that to ya.)
As the movie progresses, you find out that Constantine is trying to earn his way into heaven. At first in his life, when he was able to see the half-breeds he was scared, and some called him insane. So much like people do, he committed suicide. And yes, he was successful. But so were the doctors. So for 2 minutes, he was in hell, felling it's wrath. And so he uses his ability to vanquish what should not be in order to try and earn his way into a non painful afterlife. I will tell you all that Gabriel tells him rules are rules and that he is "f**ked" because of them.
A cop's sister commits suicide, she ends up going to constantine for help. because she feels that her sister was tricked into doing it by a cult or something along those lines. This start to intermingle with the spear and things get... well.. violent. which is ALWAYS good.
To be honest, I have never read any of the comics, and by doing so, I was probably able to enjoy the movie on a level that fans of the series will not be able to touch. Because I was able to go in and see this movie as a movie, and not something I have had dreams of since i heard the name.
With all the holy water, crosses, a golden gun (don't know why gold) and golden bullets (must be a fashion thing), I am completely set to see this movie again. Good CGI that wasn't over-used, good acting, a good cast (Gabriel is definately a nice twist with the female casting, but it works wonderfully), this movie was definately worth my money.
Like I said, I can't give any comic to movie correlations, so if you have anything you'd like to ask about it, ask. did it make it into the movie? was this changed? well, ask darn you!
I won't put this on a scale of any sort, but I don't go and see movies twice a lot.
